TakingITGlobal.org has been a great tool for my students in Canada to expand their perspective on important issues. Understanding the Issues has made complex topics accessible to these middle school students. Discussion Forums, and the opinion survey functions they support, have allowed them to conduct primary research. By integrating these different types information they have been able to not only increase their understanding about the world, but they have also learned how to use the tools that can empower them to be effective global citizens.

Tread Lightly Teacher Toolkit

The Tread Lightly Teacher Toolkit is an interdisciplinary educational resource developed to help secondary school students around the world learn about climate change through the lens of ecological footprints – measures of the demand placed on the planet by human beings. This first version of the toolkit was specifically designed to run in parallel to key events in global climate change policy leading up to and including the UN climate change conference in December.
